Position Summary
The General Surgeon will be based at Spin Boldak District Hospital and is expected to deliver comprehensive surgical care, particularly in trauma and emergency contexts, within a resource-constrained environment.

Clinical Services

Conduct a variety of surgical operations, including emergency and trauma surgeries.

Diagnose and manage a wide range of surgical conditions, including injuries from road accidents and conflict-related trauma.

Provide complete pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring effective infection control and wound management.

Collaborate with hospital staff to prioritize and manage emergency cases, especially in high-pressure settings.
Training and Supervision

Offer hands-on training to medical staff in surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and emergency care.

Assist in establishing standard operating procedures for the hospital’s surgical unit.
Logistics and Supplies Management

Operate effectively with limited medical resources, using manual techniques when needed.

Liaise with hospital administration to ensure necessary surgical materials like sutures, fluids, and medications are stocked.

Notify the hospital leadership of any shortages or equipment maintenance issues.
Emergency and Mass Casualty Response

Act as a key responder during mass casualty incidents, including bombings and other emergencies in the region.

Engage in emergency planning and preparedness drills conducted by the hospital.
Administrative and Community Engagement

Maintain accurate records of surgeries and patient outcomes.

Participate in outreach activities to raise public awareness on health and safety issues as required.
