Position Title: Environmental, Social, Health and Safety Officer – Call for CVs

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Social Science, or a related field
Years of Experience: 4 years of professional experience in environmental management, social development, and health & safety, with knowledge in gender-based violence, medical waste management, and grievances redress mechanisms.

Job Description for Latest Acbar Jobs in Khost Apply Online 2025 – Today Jobs in Khost 

The Environmental, Social, Health and Safety (ESHS) Officer will play a key role in ensuring environmental, social, and health safety standards are met within COAR’s projects. The responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring & Compliance: Oversee the implementation of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP), Resettlement Action Plans (RAP), and other safeguard instruments.

  • Site Assessments: Regularly assess sites to identify potential environmental and social risks.

  • Environmental Law & Waste Management: Ensure adherence to environmental laws, waste management practices, and pollution control measures.

  • Health & Safety Oversight: Implement workplace safety protocols in accordance with local labor laws and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ILO).

  • Risk Management: Conduct safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations; lead in incident response and corrective action.

  • Training & Awareness: Promote safety culture by training staff, contractors, and workers on safety practices and ESHS standards.

  • Grievance Redress: Maintain grievance redress mechanisms (GRM), handle complaints, and ensure timely resolution.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of environmental, social, and safety activities, and generate regular performance reports for internal and donor review.

  • Consultation & Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate public consultations and ensure effective communication regarding ESHS standards with affected communities.

  • Risk Mitigation & Capacity Building: Identify potential risks throughout the project lifecycle, propose mitigation strategies, and support capacity-building efforts for local partners.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Social Science, or related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience, including managing gender-based violence, medical waste management, and grievance redress.

  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    • Report writing and documentation skills.

    • Familiarity with World Bank or ADB environmental and social frameworks, as well as Afghanistan’s environmental laws, is a plus.
