AFGA is seeking qualified Nutrition and Psychosocial Support (PSS) Counselors for its Family Health Houses (FHHs) in Herat. Working under the direct supervision of the FHH Supervisor, the counselor will provide integrated nutrition and PSS services, particularly for women of reproductive age and young children.
Key responsibilities include delivering nutrition education to pregnant and lactating women, screening for malnutrition in children under five and pregnant/lactating women, counseling on infant feeding practices, and supporting the main midwife when necessary.

Monitor and record the growth of all children under two years of age

Provide tailored nutrition counseling to pregnant and lactating women, and caregivers of young children

Conduct anthropometric assessments (weight, height, MUAC, and edema checks) for under-five children

Identify and classify cases of malnutrition (Well-nourished, MAM, and SAM) and ensure appropriate referrals

Conduct regular nutrition education sessions and food demonstration activities

Participate in monthly meetings with Community Health Workers (CHWs) to support community-based nutrition initiatives

Identify clients needing follow-up and coordinate with community teams

Maintain accurate service delivery records and submit regular reports

Provide reproductive health services in the absence of the main midwife
